Participants will learn the mandatory requirements of setting up a company. They will understand the importance and different types of market research. They will learn how to write a comprehensive business plan and keep financial records for their business. Students will also learn how to write a marketing and communications strategy. Learners will also understand what support is available to them once they have started their business.
Course aim
This course will enable participants to understand the requirements when setting up a small business.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Discuss the mandatory requirements in setting up a UK company.
- Write a business plan.
- Undertake at least one form of market research.
- Produce a marketing and communications plan.

- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

- You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
