Rediscovering Post Impressionism - Caroline Levisse

Ref: C2422095

From the 1880s, a series a painters set out to develop Impressionism into new directions. We will study the art of the Neo-Impressionists Seurat and Signac, of Cézanne, and we will see how Gauguin and van Gogh explored colour’s expressive potential. Through our examination of Symbolism, we will consider the fin-de-siècle spirit in Europe (Edvard Munch, Ferdinand Holder), as well as the Secessionist movements (Gustav Klimt). Finally, we will consider the birth of modern sculpture with Rodin and Claudel and the first developments of art photography.
