The course intends to improve student’s awareness of some useful everyday essentials skills. Sessions with a variety of activities will help students understand: Employability skills topics such as: different type of jobs, making a good first impression and my first day at work. Personal skills topics such as: personal identity, personal information and interact with others. Everyday life skills topic such as: making shopping lists, at the check-out and online shopping.
Course aim
The course aims to teach students basic skills required for daily life.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Independently practice the vocabulary of jobs which in turn will help improve my reading and speaking skills.
- Understand what skills are needed to create a good first impression.
- Understand the process of applying for a job.
- Recognise and respond to phrases commonly used at a supermarket checkout ‘Do you want cashback?’ ‘Have you got a point’s card?’ ‘Do you need a bag?’ ‘Insert your card.’
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
