This course is intended to improve students’ knowledge of customs and practices in the UK. Sessions with a range of activities will help students understand: Health topics such as: talking to the doctor going into hospital and making an appointment. Everyday activities such as: going shopping, at the supermarkets and at the markets. Information about employability topics such as job interviews, looking for work and different type of jobs.
Course aim
The course aims to teach students about living and working in the UK.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Develop functional language and vocabulary for everyday basic shopping activities.
- Recognise several vocabulary items related to money.
- Understand and respond appropriately to specific job interview questions.
- Expand vocabulary so as to understand medicine labels etc.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
