To build students' awareness of what debt is, as well as looking at ways to avoid it or to manage existing debts. Students will also compare various methods of borrowing money, including identifying advantages and disadvantages.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Define the terms priority and non-priority debt
- Identify at least 1 way to avoid getting into debt
- Identify at least 1 way to manage an existing debt
- Define the terms credit and debit
- Define the terms ‘interest’ and ‘APR’
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
What else do I need to know?
- a notebook and pen would be useful to take class notes
