A practical introduction to 'The Art of Beautiful Writing' and how different forms of calligraphy can be used as inspiration to produce attractive artwork and cards. Create a piece of artwork inspired by the beautiful and very imaginative designs that can be seen on medieval manuscripts. Experiment with using lettering and creative calligraphy to produce a contemporary style card or piece of artwork. The course will include an overview of well known calligraphy styles and exploring images of beautiful medieval manuscripts and creative forms of lettering as inspiration. Suitable for beginners.

To provide an introduction to the 'Art of Beautiful Writing' and to explore how calligraphy can be used as inspiration for creative artwork.

- Have an overview of the variety of calligraphy and history of writing
- Recognise two styles of calligraphy
- Use lettering creatively to produce an attractive card
- Produce a piece of artwork inspired by the designs of Medieval manuscripts
