If you are a beginner and need help getting started on a computer, or need to improve your current basic computing skills, explore our Introduction to Excel course to get you started on your journey. This is a non-accredited course. This is a practical and flexible way of improving your ICT skills using Microsoft Office.

Course aim

The course aims are for the learners to gain confidence using Microsoft Excel application to create spreadsheets and charts.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This is a live lecture delivered by a subject specialist in an online webinar video learning platform. You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.   • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Confidently identify and use spreadsheet and graph software correctly
  • Use an Excel application where I will have the ability to create a spreadsheet and enter text and numbers.
  • I will be able to confidently use the spreadsheets to apply formulas eg sum, average etc.
  • I will be able to confidently use the spreadsheets to format and manipulate data.
  • I will have the ability to create different types of chart eg pie, column etc.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
