This course will allow students to improve their awareness of what debt is, as well as looking at ways to avoid it and/or manage existing debts.

Course aim

Students will look at ways to avoid getting into debt as well as ways to manage any existing debts.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Define the term ‘debt’
  • Identify at least 1 way to avoid getting into debt
  • Identify at least 1 way to manage an existing debt
  • Define the terms ‘credit’ and ‘debit’

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • a notebook and pen would be useful to take class notes

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
