We will be looking at starting off with simple stick-men. Then developing them into simple cartoon characters. We will look at character creation and design, backgrounds, drawing movement, and more. The skills you will learn in this course will help you with whatever you want to use them for such as producing illustrations, animations, comic books, graphic novels and digital paintings.
Course aim
Take your stick-man and upgrade it into a 3D character! The main focus will be on drawing cartoon characters from a stick-man and building it up with a head, eyes, face, legs, arms, feet, etc.

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- This course is fully online. Accessed via Canvas and run on Zoom. You will need a reliable internet connection, a device connected to the internet, a camera and microphone. You will be emailed links to Canvas and Zoom so please accept these to access the course. The sender will show as "instructure"
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
- You will be able to keep a digital portfolio of your work on WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
