This course is for students who are new to using digital skills. We will provide opportunities for you to build your confidence in using digital skills for everyday situations. The course covers : using the internet and online browsing, shopping online, creating and using email accounts, making safe passwords and staying safe online.

Course aim

The aim of the course is to provide students with an introduction to basic IT and digital skills such as: using an email account, searching online, online shopping and being safe online.

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Be aware of safety measures to protect yourself and your personal information online
  • Be aware of safety measures to protect your equipment .
  • Search for information using web browsers
  • Using email effectively.
  • Shop online safely.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?
