This course will have changing sessions during which students complete tasks on their own or have group discussions and online worksheets. Students will be encouraged to improve their computer skills by first completing a variety of tasks and activites( including an interactive task) on Canvas and participate in group discussions on Zoom where they will have the opportunity to meet other learners, discuss the session topic and express their opinions.
Course aim
This online course aims to develop learners' ability to access public services around their communities such as access products and services online, how to find and speak to thier doctor, how to join the local library and how to make a bus pass.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Learn how to access local services in the community
- Complete a Simple form with personal information
- Ask for and give information
- Make an appointment with the doctor
- Ask for help and advice
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. - The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
