Do you want to be amazed at the potential of social media to market your stories, your good, yours services, your charity then this will be the course for you. We will help you realise that with a little guidance, you can become confident internet marketers. It does not matter if English is not your first language, or you are not confident using the internet, we will help you learn and grow your IT knowledge. Within the course we will help you use Linkedln, Instagram, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, as a method of marketing your goods, skills or services for free. This course will help you start your journey of discovery in the world of IT and help you become independent learners. You will have lots of practical guidance on using social media and safety tips to keep you safe online

Course aim

We will inspire you to become more confident at using social media in a positive way, you will become more confident in marketing your skills online for employment, marketing your business, selling your goods or services online and fundraising.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • I will learn to become more confident in using the internet and social media
  • You will learn skills to become a more independent learner
  • You will the basic theories of marketing and how to apply them to social media
  • You will learn how to keep safe online, whilst using social media

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
  • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • What you need: You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom. If you’d like to understand more Zoom please visit: http://bit.ly/ZoomSpec
  • You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
  • You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas.
