With carbon emissions leading to catastrophic climate breakdown, and a world wide environmental movement rising to save the planet - this course looks at the science, history and politics of climate change.

Course aim

A study of the science and politics of catastrophic climate change, the rebel movements fighting to save our planet, and the plight of Climate Refugees.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain what the climate emergency is
  • Better understand the science of global warming
  • Explain the meaning of the Anthropescene
  • Know what a Climate Refugee is
  • Understand the work of the Wellcome Trust

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
