Drama for Confidence (LDD)

Ref: C3745121

During the two 3-hour sessions, we will use Drama Games and exercises to explore how Drama can help improve your self-confidence in many situations.

Course aim

This 2-session course will use fun Drama Games, music and film and activities to help people build their self-confidence. The second session will be a pre-Christmas 'bring a friend' opportunity to introduce the student's peers to the topic.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • this course is specifically for people who have learning difficulties or similar issues. There will be supporters in class and the teaching will be inclusive for all students. Student Supporters can attend with the students if necessary.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • understand how 'pretending to be confident' can become actual self-confidence through practicing Drama techniques.
  • use your increased self-confidence at other times in your life.
  • be able to stay safer by learning how to politely say "No".

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • you will be asked to join in with class activities as they happen.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • you may bring your ideas about times when you might need or did need more confidence - especially if you want support with a future event that you might find stressful.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?
