This is a short relaxed class for individuals who would like to improve their portraiture skills. You will learn basic skills for drawing eyes, nose and mouths. Learn techniques to help improve symmetry

Course aim

This course is for anyone wanting to improve their portrait drawing skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • use 2 different methods to help you get the correct porportions when drawing faces
  • use 2 different techniques to give shape and definition to your portrait
  • use some basic shapes to create eyes, nose and a mouth
  • use a simple technique for drawing heads at 2 different angels

How will I be taught?

  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • you will be asked to research some well-known artists and their work, to help inspire you to find your own.

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
