A beginners art course using pastel, charcoal and ink . The aim is promote well being, and provide the opportunity to try new activities and gain new skills in a friendly supportive group .Try something different every week -Basic materials and equipment will be provided.

Course aim

To provide a broad foundation in the basic skills needed for drawing and painting

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use mark making to show textures and patterns
  • Identify dark and light tones
  • Use a colour wheel as a reference to mix a colour from two or more colours

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Please wear an apron or old clothes. Basic materials and equipment are provided. If you have a personal email address you will be able to access additional rescources on the WEA's digital learning platform Canvas .
