Course aim

Look at aspects of UK culture and necessary language to engage with the community. Learn about the health system, transport system and commom values

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • E1 ESOL level is desirable to take the most out of the course. Ability to read and write are crucial.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn at least 10 words for giving and understanding directions
  • Learn at least 10 words for making travel plans.
  • Make/change an appointment over the phone in at least 2 different contexts.
  • Label 6-8 places on a map using a simple key

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • Access to internet on a mobile device is crucial for this course

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Own mobile device and internet
