Ballet for Fun

Enjoy learning to dance ballet to a variety of music with the benefit of improving overall fitness. This course is intended to all levels of experience who would love to learn ballet in a friendly and supportive environment. Improve your fitness, posture, balance and flexibility while dancing to music. Includes barre, centre work an short step sequences. So whatever your age and experience we look forward to meeting you.

Course aim

To promote ballet as a fun and fitness activity.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate improved overall fitness, stamina and musicality in completing the ballest class.
  • Demonstrate exercises at the barre to improve core strength, balance and flexibility.
  • Perform a short ballet sequence incorporating steps learnt in class.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Demonstration, question and answer, discussion, group work, observation, individual work, practical work.

What else do I need to know?

  • Wear comfortable clothes or exercise clothes. Ballet shoes will be ideal or bare feet but no socks please.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
