To become familiar with some of the English language features that your children are introduced to at in their English language learning journey at school. This will include grammar and guided reading techniques.

Course aim

To become familiar with some of the English language features that your children are introduced to at in their English language learning journey at school. This will include grammar and guided reading techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • Basic reading and writing skills are crucial.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify and understand at least 3 different parts of the sentence.
  • Rewrite 2-4 sentences in at least two different verbal tenses.
  • Understand and use at least 4 questions words correctly.
  • Describe actions/scenes/people in the moment by using the correct forms of the verb + ing using appropriate spelling rules.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
