This course will enable learners to build confidence through examining ways to raise self-esteem. They will write positive affirmations about their strengths and discuss their achievements. Through goal setting they will produce an action plan to enable them to prepare for work.

Course aim

This course will help learners to identify their skills and build confidence in preparation of finding a job.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Present myself positively to at least one other person.
  • Write at least two positive affirmations about myself.
  • Discuss at least three factors which will raise my self-esteem.
  • Write a SMART objective to help me prepare for work.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
