Make Your Own Music (Reaching Out)

This course is for anyone and everyone who enjoys music. We will be making music together using percussion instruments, our voices and anything to hand. We will focus on listening to each other, the coordination involved with playing different instruments and improving memory as we learn or remember popular tunes and lyrics of songs the group enjoys. This course aims to bring people together in an inclusive, enjoyable experience of making music, encouraging positive engagement and building confidence, contributing to wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Think creatively about music making, using unconventional and everyday items to create sounds/music.
  • Respond to a leader's direction to either play loud or quiet
  • Express what music I enjoy and like listening/singing to
  • Listen to others in the group taking it in turns to pick songs to sing and letting others have their say

How will I be taught?

  • Most of your learning will take place in the session but you will be encouraged to use the skills we develop within the session in day to day life

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • If there is anything you want to bring that would aid your music making feel free to bring it along

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
