This course gives students, including those who otherwise cannot get access to art classes, the opportunity to experiment with a range of materials and techniques and complete a number of exciting projects in drawing and painting. The course, which is run by a highly experienced tutor, is open to beginners as well as those looking to improve their artistic skills.

Course aim

To provide those who enjoy art, but cannot normally gain access to art classes, with the opportunity to complete a number of exciting projects in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Produce a portrait drawing or painting using a number of techniques and colours
  • Produce a finished landscape painting or design using a range of techniques and colours
  • Experiment confidently with art techniques for enjoyment.
  • Produce an abstract design based on your own previous projects.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
