Day School: Siena - Art of an Italian Republic

Ref: C3744628

We begin with a short history of the beautiful city of Siena and follow this with a study of its great Medieval masters, Duccio, Martini and the Lorenzetti brothers. Works include the unique political frescoes in the Palazzo Pubblico, and the architecture of the noble palazzi. In particular we pay attention to the beautiful Duomo and Siena's long pilgrim heritage. Later we look at the renaissance heritage and what happened to Siena after its defeat by the Florentines.
