The Art of Photography

Ref: C3744564

This course will trace the development of photography and its uses from its invention in the mid nineteenth century to the present day. We will concenrate on the links between photography and painting, and explore the way in which artists have modified their use of the medium to investigate different subject matter. The work of major photographers will be included, such as Nadar and Julia Margaret Cameron, to Cartier Bresson, Stieglitz and Steichen, Capa, Karsh, Bailey and Liebowitz.
