Edward Thomas - Hampshire Poet

Ref: C3744315

Edward Thomas was a writer of exceptional sensibility and through his prose and verse he shows us the English landscape at a time when it was facing great change. With his family, Thomas settled in Steep, Hampshire, determined to live by the pen. Complex and sometimes troubled, he began writing poetry just eighteen months before his death at Arras in 1917 and has gained a reputation as one of the finest poets of the early 20th century. In this course we will focus on a selection of Thomas's poems, looking at his style and themes and considering this complex and often troubled man in the context of his times.
