Day School: The Knights Templar

Ref: C3744306

The Knights Templar united the knightly and religious roles at the core of medieval society, evolving because of a need to assist pilgrims to the Holy Land after the First Crusade and then used as military leaders in the Crusading kingdom. Their fundraising activities included managing estates and banking in Europe. There were numerous contemporary legends about their power, wealth and spectacular fall from grace, to which many modern legends and speculations have been added. But the truth about the Templars is even more spectacular than many of the myths. This course will explore their history and try to separate fact from fiction.
