This course will explore a range of Art from different periods to make comparisons and contrasts which relate the paintings to a wider context. At a time when galleries are closed this course will bring Art to the comfort of you own home and encourage you to consider how we can relate to the paintings and the significance of the themes. Fully illustrated with discussion.

Course aim

This course will explore a range of Art from different periods to make comparisons and contrasts which relate the paintings to a wider context.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Contribute to constructive discussion about the material studied
  • Analyse and discuss a range of examples of paintings to illustrate the themes explored
  • Make comparisons and contrasts between the paintings discussed
  • Consider how we can relate these paintings to a wider context
  • Understand the background of the paintings and artists & their chronological significance

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?
