Disccover and explore how pen, ink and watercolour pens can be used to create beautiful landscapes. This session will introduce and inspire you to try these mediums for yourself and give you confidence to experiment with your own landscape art. We shall look at examples of work, the subjects chosen and different styles. I will demonstrate the flexible way in which these mediums can be used.

Course aim

An introduction to using pen and ink and water colour pens to create landscapes.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This is a live lecture delivered by a subject specialist in an online webinar video learning platform. You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.   • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • See how pen, ink and watercolour pens can be used in landscape pictures.
  • Feel inspired to try these mediums for yourself.
  • Gain knowledge of the flexible way these mediums can be used.
  • Understand and use some of basic compositional features used in landscapes.
  • Confidently have a go at pen, ink and watercolour brush landscapes.

How will I be taught?

  • This will be a taster session for a longer course in September that will further explore this medium and will allow participants to practise techniques and share work completed at home during the session. Participants will share work completed between sessions through tasks set by the tutor.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be able to keep a digital portfolio of your work on WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas.
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • This is an introduction taster session and will be a demonstration of pen,ink and watercolour brush pens.
