Crafting for Fun: Playing with Paper

The first 5 weeks will introduce a technique each week. The remaining weeks will allow you to develop themes you enjoy to a greater depth to create a final project

Course aim

Introducing paper crafting with a view to practicing techniques you can persue in more depth and create a project over several weeks.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • select the correct kind of paper for the activity
  • identify recycling opportunities for materials
  • create my own extended project
  • enjoy enhanced confidence in further stretching my abilities and sharing my creations
  • better understand the uses of papers across history and the world

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • This activity is creative and does not have any right or wrong. Students will be expected to participate in practical activities following demonstrations of ideas and technique by the tutor.

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
