Relaxation and Mindfulness Exercises

You will learn how to take part in gentle exercises to relaxing music which will help promote a positive mindset and increase your mobility and muscle strength. A range of low to medium intensity movements will be demonstrated and performed in a mindfulness approach. Relaxation techniques will be used along with Tai Chi style movements. Small equipment will be used to increase focus and attention. Adaptions and alternatives will be given so all can take part.

Course aim

The course contains gentle exercises to help aid physical mobility, build muscle strength and trigger positive emotions while listening to relaxing music. A range of low to medium intensity movements will be demonstrated and performed.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform a range of low to medium exercise movements to relaxing music.
  • Be more mindful when doing any exercise to your surroundings and how your mind and body feel.
  • Have more positive thoughts and emotions triggered by music and exercise.
  • Move a little easier by taking part in regular exercise to aid mobility .
  • Perform a range of activities to help increase focus and attention.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

  • Nothing else is needed
