Working to a theme, this course will help you to create interesting and decorative items from discarded material such as cards, lanterns, candle holders. On the agenda is memories, masks and lanterns, painting, ceramics. The aim is to develop a variety of skills and produce work that is fun and appropriate for the season. It is possible to make gifts for others or make items to decorate your home or a shared venue. We are able to work in a safe studio environment in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. it going to be fun
Course aim
Busy Finger is a course for those who like to learn new crafts and skills. We will recycle found materials with the purpose of creating new decorative objects out of that which is discarded and unloved.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- using a minimum of two different materials (paper, wire, fabric, wool, fruit, plaster, paint and plastics) using a combination of approprate joining methods.
- using a minimum of two different methods of making (mould making, carving, paper-making, print-making, stitch, knit, cut fold and stick)
- learn the correct teminology
- develop a personal approach to making work and decision making.
- understand the importance of health and safety in a studio environment.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

- Nothing else is needed
- All materials will be provided
