Drawing and Painting

Learn drawing and painting techniques in a friendly environment. Suitable for all abilities; you will produce a portfolio of artwork, finally creating a more resolved piece to display informally with the group. Demonstrations and contextual hand-outs will be provided throughout, alongside 1-2-1 support and discussion. Bring pencils, A3 paper/sketchbook and a rubber to the first session. Details and advice about brushes and acrylic paints will be given after the first few sessions.

Course aim

Learn drawing and painting techniques in a friendly environment. Suitable for all abilities; you will produce a portfolio of artwork, finally creating a more resolved piece to display informally and discuss with the group.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Develop drawing skills
  • Develop painting skills
  • Produce a final piece (drawing or painting)
  • Develop greater confidence in your drawing and painting skills
  • Learn new approaches to drawing and painting

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need to bring art materials. A list will be given to you in the initial sessions. For session one please bring a range of pencils, A3 cartridge paper/sketchbook and a rubber.

  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2019
