This course will introduce you to the many health benefits of yoga. Pranayama - the breath. We will learn to breathe deeply and correctly this will encourage a sense of calm relaxation. When we breath correctly it helps to lower anxieties, lower blood pressure. We reoxygenate our blood that then supplies our vital organs with fresh energy so that they become more efficient in their performance. Yoga, the gentle stretches with in a yoga session will help you to become more flexible and aware of your body and its needs. The deep relaxation within a yoga practice will help you to become calm and balanced. Meditation helps with over anxious minds, helps us to become more mindful and teaches us to live in the present. Encouraging us to adopt a more healthy lifestyle.

Course aim

This course will cover Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and Yoga Nidra

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will become more flexible.
  • Help you to relax and feel more energized
  • It will help you to become calmer and less anxious.
  • You will learn to correct your posture.
  • It will help you to adopt a healthier lifestyle, encouraging healthful eating and light exercise, also meditation helps us to become more present, calmer and happier with our lives.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • If you own your mat, please fetch that along with you and a warm blanket for relaxation and meditation.
