Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media for All Abilities

Inspired by everyday objects, you will create a variety of drawings, paintings and mixed media artworks. Through art demonstrations and ongoing support, you will generate a portfolio of art techniques using different media. These will form the basis for you to work on a larger mixed media artwork, the subject of which you will choose.

Course aim

To develop the learners' skills and techniques in drawing, painting and mixed media.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand and create Visual Dictionaries for a range of media
  • Demonstrate experimental mark-making
  • Create a portfolio of drawings and paintings
  • Demonstrate evidence of having learnt a new technique
  • Produce a Mixed Media piece of artwork

How will I be taught?

  • You will be shown art demonstrations and expected to contribute to group discussions and questions and answers

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have verbal feedback and support throughout the course.

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
