in the third term we learn about different continents. the group chooses a country from each one and decides what recipes they would like to cook. We discuss how climate affects diets in different places and where some of our familiar foods originate. We also celebrate Eid ul Fitr
Course aim
A chance to practice and learn new cooking skills, taste new foods and look at how food is used in different countries cultures and celebrations
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Learn and practice cookery skills such as following recipes, weighing ingredients, chopping and mixing
- Be able to identify foods from three different countries
- Be able to name different religions practiced by students at the Learning Zone and their main festivals
- Complete a workbook of information and recipes to take home at the end of term
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
