Over the course we will discuss the following: sleep, nutrition and exercise, negative behaviours, emotions, communication and our personal networks and moving forward.

Course aim

This course looks at a range of topics, issues and practical techniques to improve your health and wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • this is largely a discussion based course and will only work if the students have a willingness to participate. The tutor creates a calm, relaxing and positive environment so that everyone feels they can share their ideas.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • explain the impact the different elements have on my health and wellbeing
  • describe a range of techniques to improve my health and wellbeing
  • demonstrate the effect that my chosen relaxation technique has upon my wellbeing
  • prepare a clear plan for moving forward with my wellbeing

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
  • the tutor may ask you to complete a wellbeing diary in your own time to record your progress

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

  • Nothing else is needed
