The taster session explores the links between stress, relaxation and wellbeing. Students will share ideas and discuss various forms of relaxation. Students are welcome to try out various relaxation techniques within the session to see what works well for them.

Course aim

To help students identify stress and understand the effect it has on our wellbeing. As a group we will explore some ways in which to help manage stress so that we can move forward in our lives.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • Students need to have a willingness to learn and be prepared to contribute to the session

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • identify the effect stress can have on us on a daily basis
  • describe various forms of relaxation
  • identify my preferred method of relaxation and explain why

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • there may be a number of small craft/wellbeing tasks associated with the subject

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
