Using ceramic imprinting and building techniques, you will make beautiful pottery that can brighten up your home. We will explore ceramic imprinting that can be developed to make unique and personal objects that will adorn you home, garden or make a nice gift. The projects will be loosely based on a funky space theme, fun for the summer with a professional finish. The planned sessions will include imprinted and slip decorated wind chimes/ wall hangings, 3d Rocket candle holders and name plates; colourful and personalised. Everyone is welcome as we find your thing in the world of ceramic crafts.

Course aim

Come and join us and find a love of traditional crafts from pottery, to print making and much more. Open to all abilities, you will make a range of funky objects that will celebrate a summer of fun with a personal touch.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Two ceramic techniques (Slab build, Pinch pot)
  • Two different decoration techniques ( slip, stencil, imprinting, glazing)
  • Learn technical terms used in the production of ceramics.
  • How to Work safely in a studio enviroment
  • How to personalise your own work.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
