Weather - A Mixed Bag

Using the water cycle and changes of state we will look at the importance of water in determining different climates around the world and how that affects the geography. A range of activities will be used to allow us to develop an understanding of climate change. We will look at how animals adapt to different climates and the effect of global warming on their habits.

Course aim

An introduction to climate and its links to water and how we and other animals will have to adapt to climate change.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Label a diagram of the water cycle.
  • Complete an activity to match 4 cloud types to their descriptions and the weather they are linked to.
  • complete an activity to match climate to the type of geography of a region of the world
  • Give 4 effects of climate change
  • Identify three ways you will use to help reduce global warming.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
