Nelson, Napoleon and Wellington

Ref: C3675831

Three men epitomise the Regency era for many: Nelson, Napoleon and Wellington. We will take an overview of the Regency period in Britain (c1800-1820) and its legacy in industry, literature, art and architecture. We will look at key events including the French Revolution, and discuss the impact of a long-term, distant, foreign war on society at home. In particular, we will study Nelson's naval battles, the Peninsular War and the Waterloo campaign. The local context will be considered as well as social history and high society, and we will visit a relevant historical site in the region, which may involve a small additional admission charge.
