Introduction to Victorian Art

Ref: C3675714

Victorian narrative pictures are, legible, thought provoking and entertaining; the visual equivalents of Dickens, Hardy and the Brontes. They provide a fascinating insight into the attitudes and values of this crucial period of British cultural history. In this illustrated lecture series we will be turning Sherlock Holmes' deductive reasoning upon the visual legacy of the Victorian period to find out what fun it is to retrieve the last art of "reading" pictures.
