Make 'Em Laugh: Cinema's Kings and Queens of Comedy

Ref: C3675695

Whether it is silent era comics like Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd, the wisecracking antics of the Marx Brothers or the understated humour of Ealing comedies cinema has had a significant role in the laughter stakes. But has what amuses us today qualitatively changed from those eras? Are we less insensitive to those who were often the butt of other people's jokes? Has it got harder for filmmakers to raise a smile or have they just got cleverer? We shall see.
