We will develop ideas around keeping an art journal. You will be encouraged to try out some techniques to free yourself up creatively and you will be shown some examples to inspire you to go on and set up an art journal for yourself.

Course aim

To provide a taster of Art Journaling by giving you a brief introduction to the topic and giving you some ideas to explore.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • be able to explore the topic of art journaling.
  • express myself creatively.
  • be able to understand how to move forward and go onto another course to explore the topic in more detail.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring some pencils, felt tips/markers, pens or any art materials that you like to use.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
