As part of the 2020 Bristol Learning City Festival of Lifelong Learning Week, this free taster course is one of over 200 activities across the city. The course will bring people from different backgrounds together to share an introduction to quilling and explore how you could take this further.

Course aim

To promote and celebrate the benefits of learning by bringing adults from different backgrounds together to share in the joy of learning. It will also encourage you to learn the skill of paper quilling that we will use to make a greetings card.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • quill simple shape using paper strips
  • put together a decorative greetings card using the shapes that you have created
  • identify how you can continue to develop your skills moving forward

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • This is a practical class and you will be making the cards. NB quilling does require a level of dexterity and if you need glasses for close work then please bring them.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • Somer close work will be undertaken so if you need to wear glasses for close work please remember to bring them along

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

This course is funded by the West of England Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you book. Please could we ask that you check the list below to ensure you meet our basic criteria:
