Course aim

A follow on from the September course, here we will be building on the skills and techniques previously learnt and adding in some new ones enabling the pieces created to be a little more adventurous.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use all tools and materials safely following health and safety guidelines.
  • Develop your creative skills further using 1 seasonal theme.
  • Use colour effectively and recognise at least 2 ways it can influence your work.
  • Design and select materials for, and complete a jewellery project.
  • Choose from and use a range of at least 3 different materials in your jewellery designs.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • Additional Materials - though certainly not essential - it would be great to add to the variety of beads or charms we have access to if you wanted to bring some extra with you.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources
