Using digital mobile devices to enhance day to day tasks and gain skills for work. Includes useful apps and job searches and sites. Keeping email accounts safe. Letter writing and resume (CV) writing, saving, uploading to sites and emailing as an attachment. Helping you to identify your skills.

Course aim

A follow on to the Introduction to digital inclusion to help learners use apps and devices for productivity and increased employment prospects.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Download and install apps to help you with tasks.
  • Internet - Job searches and job sites - setting up accounts, researching and finding additional help.
  • Keyboard Skills - understand how keyboard can work for you and save time when writing letters and resumes for job applications.
  • Email - making sure the right person gets your email and how to work with attachments.
  • Security - keeping yourself safe.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • If you already have a laptop, tablet or ipad you are welcome to use it or one provided by WEA for the session.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
