Fed up of fads and expensive diets? This no nonsense course will introduce simple skills that can be practiced daily to: reduce stress and anxiety, improve digestion and vitality, as well as improving your sleep and overall wellbeing. Concerned about flexibility, balance and lack of mobility? We will meet you where you are, seated postures and movements designed exactly (modified) for your needs. All aspects of the physical, mental and energy bodies are worked on, improving respiratory, circulatory, muscular skeletal and nervous systems.

Course aim

To introduce and explore manageable methods that can improve your wellbeing. Discover how the breath can calm the mind, how food effects your mood and how simple daily routines can improve your digestion, sleep and overall wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • You will need your own personal email address so that you’re able to login to the WEA’s digital learning platform: WEA Canvas.   • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify my current breath pattern and state 1 strength / challenge within it
  • Outline the variety of protein, healthy fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals in my current intake and how that helps/hinders my wellbeing
  • List 1-3 current daily wellbeing habits and how they can be improved/changed

How will I be taught?

  • Most of your learning will take place in your class, but one or two sessions will be online using WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas, working by yourself or engaging with other students.   • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
  • You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas.   • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
