Russian Personalities

Ref: C3127091

During the four sessions, we shall consider the lives of six or so outstanding Russians. They will include politicians, soldiers, priests, scholars and scientists. The events of their lives throw light on the nature of the Russian state itself. Some of them, like the chemist Dmitry Mendeleev or the general, Mikhail Tukhachevsky, will be familiar to us. Of others, like Archpriest Avvakum or Patriarch Nikon, we may never have heard. Each through his or her life, will illuminate a fragment of the canvas of Russian history and culture.
