Bird Feeder Workshop

On this short practical course learners will be able to make a selection of bird feeders. Each learner needs to bring a cup and saucer, it does not need to be in perfect condition or matching but it must have a functional handle. learners will be able to take their finished products home. please also bring an apron.

This course is open to Women only as it is held in a Women's Centre in South Tyneside. The course is free if you are a member of WHIST otherwise there may be a fee. If you are not a current member of WHIST you can enrol on the course, but you must contact WHIST prior to the course starting to become a member to qualify for a free place. Course aim

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre
  • students need to speak and read english

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • learners will learn about different types of bird food
  • learners will learn about different types of bird feeders
  • learners will be able to make bird cake
  • learners will be able to make a coconut bird feeder
  • learners will be able to make a teacup feeder

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • this is a hands on practical session

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
