This course is an introduction and will lead on to the FREE Level 1 Award in Retail Knowledge. This course will look at a broad range of topics such as occupations in the retail sector, customer service, health and safety and stock control. At the end of the accredited course you will have achieved a portfolio of evidence. These courses will enable you to apply for employment in the retail sector with more confidence.

Course aim

Provide an introduction to retail knowledge. The importance of the customer and how retailers can improve their customer knowledge. If you found this course useful you have the opportunity to progress on to the FREE Level1 Award in Retail Knowledge.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify customer service in the retail sector
  • Identify how customers’ concerns influence the products and services offered by retailers
  • Identify the retail selling process
  • List the main advantages to retailers of being responsive to customers’ environmental and ethical concerns

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
